Another one from my “Matterhorn” Trip in October 2011. This is a bit more of a classic view of the golden larches with the Matterhorn than my last post from this area.

Techs: Nikon D700, 70-200mm lens (@90mm), ISO 200, 1/30 sec, f13, polarizer,0.6 ND Soft Grad

Thanks for any comments and thoughts.

Yes, a very classic view indeed Bill. Nice tight comp, and I love those larches!

The grad ND used perfectly here. Lots of detail in the larger version. Is that a road or tram on the far left? Amazing view you had.

A lovely and classic comp, Bill. For some reason, the light colored rock at the bottom is distracting to me. If it were mine, I would crop it out. But it may not bother anyone else.

Works as well as the other one! I probably enjoy this a tad more because the composition is very direct and compact. I like how the Matterhorn is prominently featured. No signs of a grad use - very well handled technically!

Nice memories and a well known view for me meanwhile. The compression of the tele lens works very well and makes the Matterhorn feel a little more dominant and closer to the impact it has on the once who look at it on location. Great shot, Bill.

Beautiful color and scene. I am with Phil on the foreground rock. I find it pulls my eye to it and holds it there. I would prefer it cropped out or at least heavily burned down.

Wonderful shot Bill, and great use of the grad. The larches look so nice with the snow on the Matterhorn and the blue sky. I really enjoy the looks and color of those trees in the fall. I think your comp works really well overall, but I might consider burning down the foreground rock. Cropping it seems to get a little to close to the bottom of the larches for me. Anyways, this is a beautiful scene and very well captured!

Best one yet. I like the tighter comp. Foreground rock: :frown: Crop or burn down

Classic is a good word, even the comp is classic in thirds. Great color and exposure--simple but nice!

Bill, I enjoy your classical and strong composition as well as the bright and natural colors. The foreground rocks lead me nicely into the depth of the image and anchore it well for me at the same time.

This is really nice Bill - maybe one of your best. The blue/gold color combo works to perfection and the processing is spot on. I do suggest burning down that rock in the front and cropping out that little bit of rock sticking in on its left. Outstanding work!

Really like the light and color on the larches....agree re the f/g rock - it distracts from an otherwise stunning comp.

A perfect exposure and it works very well in a vertical format. Nice crisp detail and natural colors also. Very well done, Bill!
