Mining Camp Restaurant

On the footsteps of the Superstition Mountains, the property of the Mining Camp Restaurant is a rustic gem that transports a person back to the old west. The parking lot of the restaurant doubles as a trailhead for the adjacent Tonto National Forest land, and is where I parked to hike and shoot a fantastic sunset over the mountains. Upon returning to my car as darkness set in, the scene at the restaurant instantly screamed "photo op". My car happened to be parked at the perfect spot to compose the shot, so I set the tripod on top of my car and took a couple 2 second exposures before heading home. All comments and critiques welcome!

Jake, I like what you have captured here. Good detail in the buildings & mountains, and the lights aren't over-done. Just out of curiosity, I have never seen this building. Is it on the same road that leads you to the Peralta Trailhead?

Thanks Tonia. This is not on the Peralta Road, but actually right next to Lost Dutchman State Park if you know where that is. It's really easy to find, off the Apache Trail (Hwy 88) just before Lost Dutchman SP there is a huge sign that says Mining Camp Restaurant, turn right and the road will lead you right there.

As much as I don't like buildings in front of amazing landscapes, you pulled this one off. I've never stopped here just gone straight to the mountains. I like the eerie feel this has. The only thing I don't like (and there's nothing you could have done unless you had a shovel) is that pile of dirt. It just takes away from the scene. I might try to add a little more sharpening to bring out the details in the mountain and maybe a slight boost of contrast. Wonder if the food is any good there. Might have to make a trip there soon. Good stuff.

It does have that old western feel to it Jake. I also like the balance of the town lights and the light on the mountains.
