The Superb Starling is one of three rufous-bellied starlings, and the commonest of the three. The adult has white eyes and a white breast band between the blue throat and rufous underparts. The immature, shown here, has dark eyes and lacks the white breast band, which is just beginning to appear in this specimen. The white vent distinguishes this immature from other immatures.
Species: Super Starling (Lamprotornis superbus)
Location: Ndutu, Tanzania
Date: May 2011
Equip: Canon 1D Mlll, Canon 500 f4 lens
Specs: ISO 400, f5.0, 1/125s, beanbag on vehicle

Thank you for taking the time out to look, and for your comments/critiques.

Interesting behavioral pose Ajit. Good job getting detail in the darks with this side light and the conspicuous catch light makes a big difference here.

Ajit, nice sharp subject w/ a pleasing background. The open mouth adds interest.
