Canyon dawning

This was taken a few weeks ago as Autumn was coming to a close in Castlewood Canyon here in Colorado. It's a jewel of a little state park just a few miles south of me.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

Looks familiar...hmmm
I love the comp, color, light etc, especially the layering with strong subjects from front to back. My only nit will not come as a surprise to you--it looks like there's a slight transition from above the horizon to below (bottom part of tall evergreen is brighter than top), but the blend is tricky here so not sure it can be 'fixed' or even if its worth 'fixing' since it's so minor'. Cool shot! :wavey:

Well composed, Morris, and I like the soft colors.

Thanks guys. :wavey:
Dang it, Stan, I was going to dodge that area before posting here after your keen eye picked it up over on RMNP, but forgot. It isn't a blend, but one shot. However, there was a lot of layer adjustments to try to even it out.

Very serene and peaceful Morris. The flow of the composition is nice, heading the eye to that nice color. I'm picking up the transition Stan noted (although I probably would have missed it without his comment  ).

Nice one Morris. I would usually consider the bare branches a little too busy but I think they work well here in adding strong textural contrast alongside the rock. :toast:

Spot on comp Morris, good details, looks like a tricky shot to expose for.

Very nice Morris. I think your comp works very well, and nice colors and detail too. I agree that it does look like a jewel of a place! Nice work!

Awesome light, and I like how the elements in the scene steer me back towards the glow. I like all that's going on in the scene and the way it all works together.

Morris, I appreciate this plain and naturally presented scene very much. The tangible foreground elements add a lot for me and anchore the composition well to my eye.

Everything in the frame comes together, Morris. It gives me the feeling of wanting to sit in that spot to relax and watch the show.

You are lucky to live so close to that canyon! I feel as though I am standing right there. You really have a way with bringing the viewer to the place. Very nice, Morris!

Really the perspective, Morris, looking down into this rock rimmed valley. Nice subtle autumn colors that complement nicely the colors in the sky. A gem of an image of this "jewel" of a state park.
