One of those shots that I am never sure whether they look better in portrait or landscape format, so I experimented with both before settling on this version.

An African species, common around lodges in National Parks, and no doubt other places where there is often an easy meal.

Good look at this bird and it stands out against the nice background -- might try to vertical crop just to see how it looks

Excellent eye contact and an interesting setting David, I agree that a vertical might work well here.

Very nice, David. I'm good with the horizontal crop. Nice detail in the darker colors.

As those going for the vertical crop are the majority, I am posting it for comparison. Personally, I still prefer the original version, but thanks for the comments whatever your view.

David, compositionally I prefer the vertical myself. Interesting eye reflection when viewed in the larger version.
