Into the Fog

Inspired by the movie "Into the Storm", documenting the time of the former legendary British Prime Minister Winston Churchill life and career at the end of the WWII. I came up with the name of my photograph "Into the Fog". Could probably become a movie name one day I would preserve my rights!

Saying that and taking this photograph I wanted before even clicking the shutter a panoramic window view of what i am visualizing. A window of a high altitude sand dune looking down into the wadi. While the fog is disappearing as the morning sun is rising.

To me this is a very relaxing and soothing image it allows you to look into the far horizon as if you were there.

Share with me your thoughts what do you feel when you look into the image.

Really good work Abdulla. I agree, gazing into the distance is what makes this image very enjoyable. I have to admit that the image feels a bit split in half. Not sure whether the lower half adds that much here. I also do not know if darkening or brightening the bottom half is better. As it is now, I feel a bit "blocked" by the darker lower half.

A great view! Which desert is that? Looks a bit like the Rub al Khali? I like the view into the fog, with the large dune (I guess it's a dune, not rock?) emanating from it. I'd like to see bit more detail in the foreground (= bottom half of the composition). Maybe you can strengthen the wave pattern a bit?

Several nice elements Abdulla. I like the morning light chasing the fog, and the view disappearing into a far horizon. I do agree that the bottom and top don't connect well, and something in the foreground that flowed to the distance, like a sand valley or similar, would be good.

Thanks all for your amazing critique and time spent to visualize my image. I agree there is no connection between bottom and top. The intention was exactly that I guess. It's a feeling to reach top of a sand dune takes effort and when you reach you are waiting to look into the view. Might probably do another version to show more of the foreground and express it better with dodge/burn.

Basil this is Al Fayyah in Sharjah UAE.
