Rogue River Fog

Light fog at least. The sun rose this morning to a beautiful light fog that meandered all along the valley and mountain sides. I have trouble getting fog to look like it actually was and so IMO this is not a great shot. The sunrise was much greater. Any help with how to handle fog will be appreciated along with all other suggestions.

Charlie, the fog looks really good here (at least in the middle ground, don't know if there was fog in the foreground) and the layers in the mid-ground and sky are very attractive. Overall, the top 2/3s of this is great. There's just too much black in the bottom and it looks like you've already cropped a bunch.

Yeh, Mark, I had cropped quite a bit. The clouds above were much brighter so I wanted to crop them out as it made the photo look too dark to my eyes. I also have a thing about extremely thin panos so I felt including the dark trees was the best way to go. Thanks for looking and responding.

Hi Charlie, This is very nice! I really like the feel and mood of this, and the nice layers and depth. A scene I enjoy looking at very much. The amount of black across the bottom doesn't really bother me here. :toast:

Charlie, this is a really nice image. I like the composition, the layers, the colors. It is very mood evoking. My only quandry is whether there is too much black to the FG. It's easily a third of the photo. I think the fog came out fine and adds to the image.

I don't have a strong feeling about the black area. I have a prefereance,as I'd guess others will have. Here is another crop with less black at the bottom.

I too love that top 2/3. Great mix of light and wisp. Opening up that bottom, or blending in a lighter photo, would really help.

I really like the mood here and also your crop of the bottom works better for me. My main problem with both versions of the image is that the right part of the image is quite featureless. I would remove some of it putting the sun in the right spot for the rule-of-thirds.

I like the mood here Charlie, nicely captured.
I prefer your repost, it seems to give it a grander, more panoramic look & feel..
Well done & have a great weekend :toast:
