This cosmos has some fascinating variations from solid red petals to white with red striations. This particular bloom caught my attention.

The cosmos stands out beautifully from the dark BG. Very noticeable detail throughout the flower. A well executed, artistic image.

Just exquisite, Bob ! A very fine specimen, composed and lit superbly - there is a wonderful feel to the centre and the petals.

Very striking image. The details in the bloom stand out strongly against the black background. I also like how the gradual softening of the stem and leaves adds interest without competing with the bloom.

Bob: Fantastic light and color against the black BG. I'd be interested in how you lit and captured this. >=))>

Bill, this image is another chapter in my light box diaries. By that I mean I have a box which is closed on 5 sides. The camera is placed at the front opening. To the left side of the image is an opening in the box where I can control how much light enters and hits the bloom. That's the setup. For PP there is a gradiant in the LRC which provides additional light fall off. I then used Tony Kuypers triple play action which really hightens the texture/contrast in the bloom. Now this particular bloom had some fantastic striations which really set up the image. Hope that helps.
