The ground is beginning to be covered with fallen leaves here now. In this early morning I noticed that some showed dew and some did not. Also, the droplets served as little magnifying glasses for the leaf structure. The original photograph was a bit flat so, in addition to my usual processing, using Color Efex Pro 4, I applied a luminance tone curve to emphasize the variations in brightness across the image. Also, these leaves were rough so I tried to bring out the texture more by adding a grain texture across the image using Eye Candy 6.

1D Mark IV, 400 mm f/5.6, 1.4x TC, hand held: ISO 1250, 1/640 s, f/14, 0 EV.

All comments most welcome.

Lovely shot Steve - love the muted colors and the water droplets. Well done.

I really like the OOF FG leaf which sets up the sharp leaf with the water drops and causes the eye to come right to the point of focus. Very nice.

Well photographed Steve. The drops really make the image and I like the diagonal lines in the composition. Not familiar with Eye Candy 6. Did it do anything to the image? Can't tell.

Regards,

Carol

Thank you, Bill, David and Carol, for your comments. I much enjoyed them. Carol, regarding your questions. Eye Candy 6 is an AlienSkin software product (the same people that produced SnapArt 3) It has quite an impressive variety of effects and textures. Some are best used for lettering and other shapes. However, there are quite a number that are useful for our purposes too. I'm busily exploring them now.
Details are at:

The particular one used here is termed "texture noise/grain" and I've customized it using the various sliders.

I wanted a pretty subtle effect. [From your comment it may be too subtle!] If you magnify the large version image you can see the texture better. Here is a close-up view from the original image too. In addition to the texture we can see little white specs. My idea here is that very small droplets on all leaves would produce tiny reflections.

Thank you again everyone.
