Pink Dogwood + REPOST

Good Fall color in the PNW is still pretty spotty, so I'm sticking to Spring for the time being. The date of the image is last May, but it was still cool and wet. Great flower season and l-o-n-g, too! This dogwood looked so pretty to me at the time, and the weather conditions made me think it was pretty brave as well.

D700, 105mm VR micro, manual exposure mode, hand held.

Hope you enjoy...

Catherine, I took some similar images last spring. One is still in my gallery. I really like the pink blossoms and spring green foliage set against the high key BG. My only reservation with this presentation is the cut off branch at the top, but I know it's hard to isolate the leaves and blossoms and get perfect comps. You did well with this one.

Soft muted colors and good detail. To me, it seems that high key needs to occupy more space. Cloning out the top partial branch and leaf would help.

Catherine:
Love the pink and green against the high key bg. Without reading what Scott and Phil said, I came to the same conclusion about the top branch. I might also crop some off the right.

Thanks for the suggestions. Got out my pruners. Wonder what you think of it now.
Except I wish, now, that I had put a little border around it... :frown:

I like the high-key and the repost crop. A mood brightener for sure.

I think the repost is certainly improved. Good job.

I never saw dogwood flower in natura. This one is excellent. You should try to clone the top branch and may be to allow more space left & bottom. Nicely done Cattherine.

Catherine: Very nice improvement on the repost. A border perhaps but this works well for me as is. 2 thumbs up. >=))>

The transparencies of the petals make the flowers so light that they seem to fly in a cloudy sky. I love the photo, Catherine.
Take care.
