Gentle Spectacle III: Rainy Day Swim

Another in a series of low-contrast, soft-color images that touch me deeply without making a staggering impact. Not a "jaw-dropper," that reaches out and grabs a person, but an image the holds my attention if I stop and take the time to look into it.

This is one that I made while floating on a wilderness lake on one of those days of intermittent rain. I had the whole lake to myself for two days. I realized that -- unlike humans -- many of the lake's inhabitants don't hide out during the rain. (A landscape with a bird, rather than a bird picture, so I think this is the proper gallery.)

Please see the larger version.

Good job making those drops stand out, Wayne--that aint easy to do! I also like the mysterious head turn of the bird. Cool shot!

Simple and a fantastic depiction of nature. The look of the streaking rain and the loon which is ever so slightly looking "up" make this

This is a very sweet shot and the rain is definitely the frosting on the cake. The loon is an interesting addition, Excellent composition.

I can't recall seeing another image that details raindrops as clearly as this. Beautiful composition and the loon is perfectly placed. Really nice shot.

The off-center water fowl makes for a very pleasing comp. The soft light works perfectly to suggest a rainy atmosphere. I like the fact that there is no sky here.

I love the lines in the rain as they streak across the scene. Nicely done, Wayne.
