The Mystical Quiraing

Streaks of light highlight the vibrant color of this magical, mystical place of eerie light and crazy weather. A slightly different vantage point than my digital image posted earlier with some weather moving in on a Transient Light Workshop. I always wanted to go to Skye, so a dream come true even though it was only for a day.

My digital version - The Quiraing Isle of Skye, Scotland.

Pentax 67ii (courtesy of Ian C)
55-100mm
Velvia 50
1-Stop grad
Scanned on an Epson V750 using Silverfast Ai Studio 8 and betterscanning holder with ANR glass

Only CS5 work was Burn and Dodge

Thanks for looking and for any comments and critiques you wish to leave.

A great shot. Love the light and the composition. Sharpness, exposure is there to. I have nothing to complain about in this great image. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful! Looks like such a wonderful place. I remember one of Ian's shots of this place that I also liked very much. Nice work Eva! I love the feel.

Just beautiful. Nice angles, details, colors from a nice viewpoint. No nits.

Wow, couple of great shots (this & the digital version). After much back and forth, I have to say that I like the digital version better because it emphasizes the heather and has a warmer overall color cast. Did you take both of these at nearly the same time? I also have to say that I wish my scanned slides came out anything like this sharp.

Nice job on positioning that pesky tree away from those lakes in the distance. Looks like you're getting the hang of that film stuff ;)

Sheesh Eva, this trip paid off in spades for you. I think this is my favorite that I've seen from you. The grand vista, the magenta accents on the green, the dramatic clouds, the awesome tree, the way the v-shape in the forground opens to the tree that leads to the lake that leads to the horizon, etc., etc.

This is a fantastic spot. I love that place and I hope to return there next year. Beautiful heather flower... when I was there last year in May during the sunrise the colors were much different. this is this magic ... and Quirraing is full of that magic
