Surf captured at Point Piedras Blancas ~ Central Coast/CA,10-5-11.
Equipment Used: Nikon F100 with Tamron 250-500mm zoom telephoto, and
Provia 400ISO. There was a large number of elephant seals hauled up
on the beach here- cows, juveniles and pups. The 'big boys' (I was told)
were further north up the coast.

Cheers,Jeff W. :jump:

I like the interaction and the posturing in your photo Jeff. The light appears fairly harsh, so the shadows are quite deep and the highlights bright. Some flash might have helped in this regard. I haven't had the opportunity to photograph this species, challenging I bet! Great to see some nature photography on film.

Nice behaviour captured here Jeff. I agree with Gary that the light is a bit harsh though, resulting in some hot spots and blocked black areas. Interesting to see you are still shooting film; although I have limited experience with film, I think digital would ahve allowed you to retrieve detail in highlights and shadows better.
