Avocet

I stopped by the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary to see if they had filled the ponds back up after cleaning. The Water District had filled the ponds to normal levels but they were running a pile driver and both me and the birds were not comfortable with it.

A few Avocets seemed not to mind the pile driver to much and this one came over near me and relaxed. I captured some nice images and this is my favorite. A couple areas of white have lost some detail but the camera and LR3 did not show any burned out whites.

I like the pose with the wing, neck and head positions. The reflection adds a bit also. I do not have any room at the bottom. This is a 95% crop with a little off the top.

Comments are always appreciated.

I like the pose also, and the reflection, and in the larger version you can see really nice detail.

Wonderful picture Skip, I love the pose, good exposure on the eye, as well as the smooth feel of the water along with the reflection, very nice indeed!
