Yellow-Rumped Warbler

We've had a mob of these birds mixed with a handful of Juncos and two bluebirds come through the yard nearly every day for the last week. Friday, they happened to show up just as I finished lunch, so I postponed my nap and grabbed the camera. The cloudy weather we've had for some time now kept the light fairly reasonable for this and I had a couple of semi-cooperative individuals.

1DMk4, 500mm f4 ISL, hand held, f5, 1/1250, iso 640, Av mode with no compensation. Cropped to 6 MP. Normal processing in CS4. Taken at 12:29 on October 7th.

Your comments and criticisms are most welcome.

Thanks for looking,

Always nice to get a cooperative warbler, very nice image Dennis, I might try to pull a little more light out of the eye with a selective levels adjustment. :toast:

Dennis, the warbler looks good and I like the background. I have less enthusiasm for the large expanse of bright rock.

Dennis,
I love the pose and the detail of this nice bird. I like the background too. I agree with Ron about the large bright rock. Overall a really nice image. :toast:

Nice Yellow-rumped Warbler Dennis. Great that you got the yellow showing, I've been having difficulty with that.

This is really a wonderful capture of the yellow rumped Dennis. Your DOF choice was right on and I love the detail throughout this fellow as seen in the larger image. Very nice BG as well. While I love the shot as shown I can't help but feel that slightly darkening the light surface of the shale/rock would improve this even more. Just a thought! Well done my friend!

Hi Dennis, I'm not sure a group of these birds are technically called a MOB but I could be wrong! Detail and sharpness is really excellent and I like the background.but personally I would crop it a bit tighter because I think the rock is too dominant. Graham
