Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted October 9, 2011179 views8 comments
A romantic moment of a pair of dragonflies (maybe Sympetrum sp?) caught under direct sunlight. Almost full frame, NR and selective sharpening
Nikon d90- nikkor 300mm F4 + TC 1,7x; ISO 200; F11; 1/200; fill flash (-1,7); tripod
Many thanks for looking

Ah! Romance! It warms the heart! This is a fantastic shot, Fabio. The sharpness is excellent and the clean background keeps our attention exactly where you want it. Those rich colors are wonderful, too.

Fabio:
Just fabulously sharp with sweet bg. The only nit is the branch touching the thorax of the female. May be quite a challenge to clone it out but it may be worth the effort since the rest of the image looks great.

Awesome shot Fabio and all the more amazing to see that you weren't using a macro lens! Curious to know whether F/11 was absolutely necessary or whether the same result could have been achieved with a wider aperture. All the same, should I find myself in a similar setting I'll remember to start of at F/11 and work my way down from there once I've nailed the shot as you clearly have with this one ;^)

Thanks for sharing :^)
