Black-tailed Gull Bathing

To the best of my knowledge, this is a Black-tailed Gull, the Korean name, Gwaeng-yi gull, means cat gull because of its cat-like call. I was going for backlit by the sun especially to catch diamond-like water droplets.

Canon EOS 60D
Lens: EF 70-200mm f4 L USM
f8
Shutter 1/1000
ISO 200
Kenko 1.4X Teleplus Pro 300 DGX
HH
Cropped significantly to get up close, but I don't know exactly how much

Comments and constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

Mark, I enjoy back lit images. I would suggest that you re-crop the image to decenter the gull and maybe darken the background and foreground a bit to highlight the water drops.

I like the concept and the water droplets are a plus. I do think that you needed more shutter speed to get the frozen water drop look that you were going for. This would also lend some additional sharpness to the gull itself. Agree about the crop.

I really like the behavior you caught here Mark, the light looks like it was difficult, maybe a little too much from above the bird. :toast:
