That was quick!

Supposed to snow in CO today above 9000 feet, which from what I can tell from traveling around so far is over half the state! And the wind is already blowing, so, looks like fall color was last week. I really like the changing seasons so I'm not complaining, just wish I had more time leaf peeping. This was taken just out side Divide below Pikes Peak. I believe that's America's Mountain on the horizon, and it really is purple on occasion.

Again, I opted to let the leaves smudge rather than risk losing some quality by bumping the ISO. 2.8 tele zoom wide open, on a tripod of course.

Stunning fall foliage on those Aspens. Nice catch.

Seems like a short display of fall colors all over....friends in Oregon and Washington State are telling me rain is molding the leaves already...I love the vibrant yellows here, layered over the darker green and the mountain snow....nicely constructed image.

Beautiful scene, Russ. A little noise can be corrected; blurry subject is a bigger problem. I think I would have opted for a higher ISO if it would have frozen the leaves, though in the version here it doesn't look like there was too much movement. Also, greater DOF - or focus blend - to keep the foreground conifer (and possibly the grasses depending on your artistic preferences) in focus would be beneficial.

Yup, in retrospect this needs more DOF to do justice to the incredibly beautiful scene I saw in my mind. The colors are so rich and the light so clean. I probably could have increased the ISO and got a faster shutter to include details that need to be sharp without massive noise problems.

Beautiful and quite natural color. The light is great for showing them off.

Awesome comp, Russell--real pretty! I dont mind the blur in the grass--i like it actually--but i would prefer more sharpness in the mid-fg (trees). Hope to get up there in the next day or so once its buried under 8 inches of snow
