Great Egret Coming In

There is a small number of Grey Herons and Great Egrets near where I live, that if I get my hide out of bed early enough, I can shoot some before I go to work. Lately, I've been making it a point to shoot for back lighting by the sun.

Canon 60D
EF 70-200mm f4 L USM lens
Kenko DGX 1.4X Teleplus Pro TC
ISO 200 @ f5.6 @ 1/1000 sec
Cropped significantly to get up close, but I don't know exactly how much

Comments and constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

Love the concept of backlighting. It is tough to pull off but you've done a pretty good job with this one Mark. Some of the whites are a little bit hot which is not uncommon when shooting these guys. Would like to know if this was manual or Aperature Priority. When I shoot white birds I tend to compensate heavily to avoid blowing the whites. There are just rewards for those that get out of bed early as you are showing Mark. Keep em coming.

Very nicely timed Mark! Like how you managed to capture the shot without the legs of the one in flight connecting in any way to the head of the one in the water. Re the crop: unless there were some seriously distracting elements you didn't want in the frame, I think you could afford to reintroduce some.
