Marsh Grass

Yesterday, uh, Saturday October 1st, I attended one of the Scott Kelby Photo Walks. One of my friends was leading one in the Alviso area of San Jose, the extreme southern part of the SF Bay. It was well attended and it was actually quite fun.

The event took place from 4 pm to 7 pm, ending right around sunset. The last hour was spent on the levees and I did some work from the levees and then made my way down in the mud flats of the bay itself. I was only carrying my small 6MP DSLR and a tripod, as I was just out for fun.

I found this photo turned out nicely. I have been somewhat fascinated with abstracts lately and this one falls right in that genre.

Your feedback appreciated.

I like the different colors and textures of the grass, but I think this really needs to be seen larger to be fully appreciated.

Nice abstract. Bill's right. This would look better larger.

Beautiful textures and details, Youssef, and I really like the nice subtle light, especially on the green grasses. As others stated, this would be much more appreciated in a large print.

I can appreciate the abstract qualities of the image, Youssef. I like the green patches of grass amongst the brown. The lighting seems a little harsh, but it does highlight the grasses textural quality nicely.

Thanks for the feedback so far. I know it would make a nice big print where all the detail can be enjoyed, unfortunately, a big print is not in this particular image's future. I might at some point go back and try to recreate it using the 4x5 but how do I recreate the same light?
