This is a shot from Bolsa Chica very early in the morning. Sun was just barely above the horizon with some nice warm light. This Willet landed on the railing of the fence (not ideal, but it is where it decided to land).

Very nice light. I don't mind the railing - it adds some nice color and texture.

Wow! You must have been real close to fill the frame like this Keith, I guess that's why the Willet is giving you the eye as if to say, "Fine, take a picture from there, but any closer and I'm off ... " ;^)

Obviously a blessing to have such gorgeous light, and you made the very most of what was surely a fairly brief encounter, very nicely done!

Nice, Keith. Love that BG. As you say the perch is not my more favorite of all time, but I often see this species on similar perches around here, so this image strikes a familiar image in my mind and works for me.

The wonderful sunrise light really adds a nice color scheme to this image and the railing adds an interesting perspective. Nice job of getting the all the bird and part of the fence in focus with good detail. Excellent shot Keith, well done.
