Sheep at Ease

Big fellow making himself comfortable at dusk by laying on little patches of vegetation in the rubble. Behind him is a steep escarpment on which none of his predators can keep up. So he is fairly at ease !

A beautiful scene, typical of inner Denali. My guess is you were running out of light and wanted to get it all in as best you could. I think you wound up with an acceptable image with a few problems of color cast and subject position. Anything else you make of this needs to at least brighten it up and lose the blue color cast. If you have the canvas, cropping from the left and adding to the right would help, or even a square format based on the right, if this is close to full frame.

Fine image. The only nit I have is it is a bit dark. When we were in Denali we did not get any where near this close to the Dall Sheep.

Wow, what a dramatic back drop Anand! Though the exposure on the sky is spot-on, the rest of the image can use some brightening up IMO, particularly the FG and the sheep.

Super animalscape here Anand!! If anything I do think it's a tad underexposed, some tweaks in levels/curves will make this shine...love the depth.

I love the setting you're captured this one in Anand, really lends well to the sense of this being shot high up in the mountains somewhere.

Thanks all for pointing out that its too dark ! Sometime, a little too often in my case  , i get carried away with memories of the sighting and miss what might be obvious to others :)
This was however shot at 10:30 pm, and the sheep is bedding down, hence felt it was appropriate to show the darkness at night fall. Reading your comments, it does seem like brightening up the sheep/foreground will make for a better presentation. Repost coming soon. Thanks again !
@ Phil, Its close to full frame. I agree that there is a bit of tension in the composition, but cropping out the mountain on the left robs the scene of an important element. Should have taken a few steps to the right. It was dark, and i didnt want to panic the sheep, so took a couple of shots and got out without reviewing on screen.

Wonderful composition and setting to this and amazing that there is any light for 10:30 pm. Yes, it could be a little brighter but once I read it was at 10:30 pm I like the image as is, way to go.
