Road Trip

The best thing about moving is the total sense of wonder a new place creates. Just relocated to Colorado and got almost all the boxes unpacked, so my wife, the dog and I needed to get out and about. Today we discovered US Highway 24. I'm thinking this could keep me busy for awhile. I know this is a total "postcard" shot, but, ya know, I'm having a postcard experience right now. The timing isn't bad either, the high country is full of color. This is just outside of Fairplay.

Nice post card. "wish I was there, having a wonderful time" Looks like there's a halo around the clouds that's a little distracting but the scene is beautiful.

Postcard maybe, but wow, what a postcard. I love the intense rainbow of colors and the immense scale provided by the foreground trees. Excellent in every way.

You probably need to back the sat down just a touch to eliminate the blue edges to the clouds, but you are conveying the sensory overload that takes place in Colorado in fall very well here. A full day's shooting leaves my eyes burning from the light and color. Excellent comp and welcome again!

Thanks Morris, I noticed that a polarizer works quite well at nearly 10,000 feet. There are very few paved roads that take you to that elevation in the Sierra, it seems like that's an ordinary commute in CO.

Beautiful shot, Russell--love those red aspen especially! Get rid of the halos and you've got a winner here.

Welcome to CO Russ!! Sweet shot, and as you know the regional RMNP forum is a great place to network and showcase your images.

Gorgeous shot! The clarity out west is so spectacular - the humidity in the deep south places days like this innto the "rare" to "very rare" category - I'm so envious! The brilliant color looks great, of course, but what really attracts me in the coloration of the mountain itself. Superb capture.
