Fox and the Setting Sun

Here's another shot from our Argentina tour. We were at the edge of the marshes for sunset and there were a pair of Pampas Foxes in the area. The first evening at this spot I had this image in my mind but couldn't get the fox lined up in front of the sun. We returned to the same spot another evening and I was able to get the shot I had envisioned. This is full frame, it was darkened about 1/4 stop from the original capture in processing. The fox has a bit of grass in it's mouth.

Incredible color on the rim lighting... I wish the piece of grass wasn't there but it does add something to the image. Really well conceived and executed

I like this a whole lot Nate. Don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it.

Very interesting colors and compelling over-all effect. There might be a strong alternative crop as a vertical...

Nate, this is real cool! I love the darker red band around the sun...not sure I have ever seen a similar effect from a shot. Perfect placement of the fox head on the sun....I like the comp as posted personally.

My kind of shot, Nate! So well executed and great to be able to put to 'film' something you envisaged beforehand (very fulfilling indeed! ).

You better enter this somewhere!!! :toast:

Very cool. I was about to say that I had preferred a lower viewpoint to get the head a bit higher in the sun, but then I read that you were already lying on the ground - couldn't you have dug a little ditch?

The light effect is awesome, but if this were mine I would play around with it some more in my raw converter to get the yellows more intense and the reds less magenta.
