Glimmer

Taken on a backpacking trip this summer to the Green Lakes area of Three Sisters Wilderness in Oregon. We were fortunate to have some pretty fine camping and photography conditions the few days we spent here. On this morning the clouds speeding through and the light glimmering for a short bit made for a nice morning show.

Canon 5D / 17-40L / 2 shot manual blend for exposure

Thanks in advance for all comments.

What a gorgeous scene, I like your comp and the glow in the clouds. It seems like the reflection could be a little darker perhaps?

Hi Adrian, Beautiful scene and lovely light. Only suggestion I might make would be to carefully remove the few grasses smack dab under the reflection. IMO, they distract the viewer.

Regards,

Carol

Beautiful shot Adrian. I did a trip this summer into Golden Lake and the tarns above it, right north of Broken Top. Although I didn't get anything at all nearly this nice. Flowers were not ready and the beautiful clouds I had all day would vanish in 5 min at sunrise and sunset everyday...I was bummed.

Rick, I agree that it could use a tad bit of darkening. Here is one for comparison. Thanks for the feedback.

Carol, while I tend to always look for the cleanest image and sometimes will go to lengths to do minor "clean-up" to make a scene look simpler and cleaner I just did not want to do that here. Nature is not perfect even though we try to find it's perfection and create our art. I appreciate the feedback and I did think about that here but in the end decided I wanted to leave those elements as-is.

Nice capture! The adjustment for the reflection was a good move in the repost. The tallest tree on the left is a bit of a distraction, but not sure if the comp could have been slightly adjusted

Excellent shot, Adrian. I'd go for the repost but both version work well for me. There might be a slight halo around where the grass on the right meets the reflection, but my eyes can fool me here. If this is the case, this might give away the use of blending and you could correct that.

Adrian, I appreciate the plain composition that is consistent to my eye with this serene scene. The foreground elements lead me into the distance and I enjoy exploing the diverse areas of interest. Both versions work equally well to me.

Repost is excellent. I love the glow on the peak. The rich, warm shade of brown is absolutely lovely (and rather unique IMO) I can't get enough of it. This is very nice.

Lovely shot Adrian. The grass is so sharp and colorful. I do think the reflection is a tad bright compared to the sky, but a wonderful shot nonetheless.

I really like that reflection Adrian, doubling the impact. The greens give this image a lot of punch. Beautiful capture.

Beautiful contrast and color. The small amount of warm light on the mountain top and it's reflection is very powerful amongst the overall cooler tones in the rest of the image. The repost with the darker reflection looks great. Superb image!

Beautiful scenery and this looks like a great place to spend some time. The composition and colors here are really nice and the minor adjustment in the repost is a slight improvement to a very nice image.
