Glowing Spire

I found some False Dragonhead flowers starting to bloom just before the rains from our eastern storms beat them down. Finding them early this year gave me the opportunity to concentrate on the form of the entire spike, which glows in this backlit view.

Canon 50D
Sigma 150 mm. Macro; Circ. Polarizer
1/30 sec. @ f/18; ISO 400
Tripod; release; mirror up; soft-clamped stem to minimize movement in breeze

Wayne:
Simply stunning :toast:
The backlight works well on the open blooms as well giving it some translucency. I like the 'v' at the base and the dark bg.

Beautiful, Wayne. The backlight really enhances the form of the spike and the translucency of the blooms.

Beautiful, Wayne. I know your reluctant to use black background and this is not totally black, but your choice is just perfect for the skill shown on the subject. Splendid all around.

Like everything about this Wayne. The backlighting makes it sing. MIght try an angle placement of the stem to see if its placement might enhance it even more. :toast:

Wayne, Particularly like the light, specially rim lighting on the buds at the top slender portion. Dark background is perfect to show the quality of light here.
