It was a real treat to watch this osprey dive in and take out this catch. He was too far away for the dive part but struggled for a bit and then took off directly at me.....turning for the profile shot at the last moment.
Canon 1D Mark 3 with the Sigma 300-800 @ 356mm at f/7.1 for 1/2500 sec. at ISO 640.

Great shot with the wings up and no shadows! You must have been pretty close. Looks very sharp and good detail, I'm impressed with the quality from that lens.

Good of the osprey to turn and that is a nice size fish. I like the wing spread so you can see the wing feathers and body, good timing to get this, way to go.

This is the osprey shot that we're all hoping for!
Perfect poses, eye of both bird and fish, both talons, great techs, clean BG.
Excellent!

This is dynamite Roman! The ideal osprey image, including the open mouth on the catch... fantastic work!!!

Hey, I saw your response to one of my previous images asking about my fall trip, etc... I'm heading out this Friday for some autumn action in Yellowstone and the Tetons. Drop me a line via email if you're heading this way, and maybe we can cross paths once again!

Really nice Roman. Love the position of the bird. Nice sharpness and light too. My only question is about the head of the fish. Given the light direction and the fact that a sea trout's cheek and gill area is very light and silvery I would expect this area of the fish to be much brighter than it appears. Did you bring that area down any? Not a nit on the image, just interested in the processing.

One of the best and most interesting Osprey shots I have ever seen. Of course there's the usual fishing shots etc, but this is sooo great !! The way it holds the fish is almost surreal.. Really love it ! Congratulations with this amazing shot , cheers, Hans

Nice shot. I love the way these guys line the fish up so that it is more aerodynamic in flight. Excellent detail.
