Grey Squirrel

This is my first post in the Wildlife Gallery, having posted a lot in uknp and a bit in Avian. An autumny shot, this was taken yesterday whilst out looking for Foxes on a golf course. The Squirrel was feeding underneath a Horse Chestnut tree and so I lay on the ground to get the diffused effect through the grass at the bottom, but now am not sure if it is too much.

Techs:
Nikon D300s
Nikon 200-400mm with 1.4tc
Handheld lying on the ground
F5.6
1/60s
ISO 640

A real nice shot to introduce yourself to the forum with Oscar, I really like the field of view through the blurred foliage, very nice indeed!

I like the colors and comp on this one. I think I would like it better if the green grass was just below the squirrel.

Lovely colors here Oscar, they make for a very appealing squirrel image altogether. Excellent use of selective focus as well. I do wish the OOF green in the FG (bottom) was a bit less prominent. Perhaps darkening it a bit will help.

Welcome here Oscar! Love the autumn colours here and the low angle. I agree with Vincent, though I like the green FG, having a wee bit less of it would have been nice, or maybe toning it down would help too

Nice detail in the squirrel. Kind of like the colors surrounding the subject.

The details in the squirrel are great. I like the oranges, browns, and greens in the nicely blurred background. I am not so fond of the blurred green in the foreground. I wish it didn't come up as far as the squirrel.

Nice first post, in fact nice photo! I do like how the squirrel is framed by OOF material. Nice detail also and color. Thanks for sharing.

Oscar, well done, but also wish for a tiny bit less green in front, but it still works and you managed to accomplish what you set out to do.
