Ester, wow this is a real intimate seen. You must have been real close to this guy. I thing a bit more depth of field would be good to have in this seen. Especially the foreground blur. Its a little distracting and takes your eye away from the frog.

Yes i was very close. It is a very young frog as it was still tiny. somehow if you move towards animals real slow they tend to stay put. I hope it wasn't from shock! the foreground is distracting, i agree, hopefuly i get another chance soon. It is weird though i shot more frogs with lower F numbers but more was in focus. How does that happen? If you don't mind me asking. Thanks!

Depth of Field varies based on how close you are to your subject, and the aperture (f-number) you select. The closer you get to your subject, the narrower your DOF will be... even if your aperture setting remains the same. Does that answer your question?

I like this shot - and not just because I like frogs. I might crop a little closer - mostly to get rid of the in-focus bit of stick on the bottom right, and the little twig sticking into the frame on the bottom left. A little more depth of field would be nice here - but I like the dreamy effect you are getting with all that soft blur.
