Went out two nights ago to try out a new lens purchase. I'm working on an image here and didn't come back with what I visualized, but these fingerlike clouds rolled in bringing with it nightfall.

Canon 1DS 3
24 t/s II
f4, ISO 800, 38 sec
1 exposure
processed with Silver Efex Pro II

Stunning image, but I'm puzzled. At 38 seconds those stars wouldn't quite be points would they?

Either way - wonderful work

Ryan, with star images, the smaller the focal length, the longer you can get away with having your shutter open and having the stars "appear" as points. There is some deformity in these stars if you would see a larger view. Get anything over 45 seconds and you can really notice it. Thanks for the positive feedback! :wavey:

I like the composition a great deal, and the clouds look great too. There does appear to be some noise visible.

Thanks Bill, you're right about the noise. The conversion in Silver Efex LL added some of it, which I'll take care of prior to print, if I decide to print it. :wavey:

A dynamic quality with the cloud movement. Excellent comp as well.

You can't go wrong with a hay bale and stars :). The streaming clouds add depth, and I like the stars peaking through the clouds.

This is an interesting shot Mitch, and I like it! The cloud movement really works good here and I like the interest the stars add. Cool shot!

Nice one Mitch! The fast moving clouds and the stars really make this one. I like that you chose B&W also.. Cheers! :toast:
