Mixed Waters
by Larry Fischer
This features the merging of the Dietrich and Bettles Rivers on the south slope of the Brooks Range in Alaska.
The water was higher than usual and the Dietrich tributary had muddy waters. The Bettles mixed with the former and the line can be seen in the water.
The peak was a present when the sun struck it for a moment.

Where's the spotlight when you need it? Oh wait, it's here! Great timing and opportunity to photograph the light and event. I think this works well compositionally as presented, but I'm also wanting to step right up to the water's edge and just capture the water, mountain, light and sky. The immediate foreground has some interest, but the real story for me is the mountain and light.

The photo is probably made by the lighted peak.
This was really more of a snapshot I tried to make into something.
The far reaches of the valley would have been more interesting and stepping closer to the river would have helped. I wonder if the strong horizontal line of the river would have been better presented as an oblique angle?
Good comments and I'm still learning.
And Lon, I'm not familiar with the mountain's name. If you've been on the Haul Road you've driven by it--the Middle Fork of the Koyukuk starts here, where the Diertrich and Bettles Rivers merge.
