Color, Curves, and Light

Well, everyone and their mother has photographed this place including our kids..... (which our guide did help them take their own pics) but I took this. My husband was scolded several times by our Navajo guide for getting in my way. :) We still joke about it. An amazing place crawling with people and she, our Navajo guide kept everyone out of my shots even my husband..... Antelope Canyon 2007.

Added at 8:30PM 9/7: I really love the light pouring down the center canyon wall which made me revisit this. Thanks for having a look. Appreciate your comments and critiques. ..... and yes, this canyon is full of human faces and animal shapes created by the light and shadow play.... very eerie...... and I like eerie!

The almost-symmetric composition is very interesting. Different from most other slot canyons' shots.

I never tire of viewing the slot canyons, and this is no exception, Eva. The patterns and
colors work for me, and the exposure and dof are sharp which really brings out the details.

I've never shot them, and neither has my mother. This shot is playing tricks on my eyes. The middle almost appears to jut out toward me. Very nice!

I've shot my mother, no wait!!! Would love to get out into some slot canyons one day very soon. I might have to make my frame a little narrower for some of them though. :frown: This is really nice and restrained within the realm of reality too. I like to believe thay can get as nuclear as some images I've seen though too.

Ooh, this is a good one… I like that the center seems to be framed by the darker sides. Your processing looks sharp and crisp.

I’m always amazed by the natural variation in colors in these slot shots. Interesting to me is the top center of the image where the natural colors almost look like an unfocused flashlight beam coming from above.
I know, probably a strange observation.

Whoa, this isn't a beach image!! Still, a gorgoues shot with wonderful textures and color. Love the "face" in the shadowed area in the lower right. My only suggestion would be to burn the highlighted area in the lower center just a bit.

I have never been here, so is it almost impossible not to find a good shot? This is a great one for you Eva and so glad you shared it. The detailing throughout is spot on and the way the light stains down just like the water is impressive.
Wonderful work

May be frequently visited, but never ceases to amaze. Very cool detail in the larger version. Personally, never made the trip. Looks like another item for my life list, and thanks for that by the way. Nice shot Eva.

Eva,
Its not one of your classic seascapes, but I love it. And the family probably enjoyed the place as well. Seriously, its hard not to enjoy the detail, shapes and light in this image. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Jeez Eva, not ANOTHER one of these shots...

Actually, I don't get tired of looking at them if they're different and original...and this one certainly is. As Yiming pointed out, it has an interesting symmetry not often seen in shots from here. Well seen!

Nice warm golden tones in this intimate view Eva.

I should take my mom to photograph this place, she hasn't yet! She doesn't own a camera. Thanks for the idea she would love that but i might go nuts.

When i looked at the thumbnail I thought it was Tony Kuyper's shot  Very lovely image. Has a 3-dimensional feel to it. The bouncing light is also fantastic.

Eva,

This is a wonderful slot image. I really like and appreciate the colors and tones here. I like how the curves echo each other side to side and I especially think the optical illusions are quite prominent here; I can look at this multiple times and get different perspectives on what's in front or behind, what's point in or out, etc. Very cool.

BTW, count me for another who's never been to a slot canyon. Wait, I take that back, there's a place in DV called Marble Canyon, but I would quite call that a slot canyon.... Anyway, sure glad you got the chance to capture this beauty.

Eva, there is a stunning dynamics to your image that leads me many times from near to disatnce and back again. I really enjoy exploring the image. Furthermore, a fine rich tonal range to my eye.

I like the realistic color you have with your processing. Wonderful detail, I'm trying to figure out if the right wall is actually behind the bright center area. Nice find - always a new way to view the canyon at different time of the day.

Wonderful textures and composition, Eva. If it were mine I might burn down the highlights, especially those at the bottom of the image, just a bit. Nicely seen and captured. Hope to visit these one day. :toast:

A bit busy and just cherry-picking my favorite thumbnails, Eva. This is definitely worth a look. I like how the foreground and background keep changing places.

Incredible image, Eva. I love the light and shadow and the wonderful form and textures. Really has a 3D feel to it and one has to look closely to see what is what. The sculptural faces one can see really are quite eerie.
