Meteoric Dahlia?

I shot this Dahlia a few days ago in early morning light. Their was the earliest sun ray highlighting the brilliant colors and I love the dew drops on the upper petals. The image kept calling me "back" for additional views and at some point (I hadn't been drinking,) it occurred to me that it resembled a meteor, a "Dahlia Meteor" zipping through space. Two things came to mind. . . 1, It's nice to still have an imagination at my age, and 2, I had to take this into photoshop and see what I could do with it.

Now this is NOT a "Bait and Switch" posting, but you see the original image above, NOW click on the Larger Photo to see what a "Dahlia Meteor" shower might look like thru a telescope!

The meteor version also posted in Photo Art Gallery, Thanks for stopping, please do not send any letters of concern to my psychiatrist.
"Many thanks to Gary Yeoh for suggestions on improving my original."

It's a gorgeous flower Craig. Really breathtaking color. I'd just like a little more room on the left in the first one. I'll comment on the second over in the PhotoArt gallery.

Craig, Very nice implied Meteor here. I can see it strike somewhere on the right now - I am not going to stand in its way. Like Pat, I too think slightly lesser magnification with more space on the right would have strengthened the meteor feel even more.

Your Dahlia work is awesome :toast:

Craig, I have been following your Dahlia work, and it is just wonderful. I also would have liked a little more room here, but the "photo art" work is killer. Keep them coming.

Lovely shot. I like how the dew is only on the top and the strong contrast created by the lighting. I'm also fascinated in that at first glance my eyes want to make the lower left half soft, but that looking carefully makes it clear that it's crystal sharp. The meteor shower is also very cool.

When I first opened this, I thought I wanted more room on the right, but then I kept looking and looking, and the image kept making me look. It is very mesmerizing. I actually like this rotated 90 CCW. Really excellent take on a dahlia. They are gorgeous flowers to view and hard as heck to capture and you did very fine work with this one! :toast:

Love the light vs dark and love the shape of the petals Craig. I wish that the back of the bloom was not clipped. Overall, a very cool photo.
