NE Texas Fires

It has been a long while since I last posted any photos to NPN and for that I apologize. Personally speaking 2011 has not been my best year and today was the first time in months I was able to go shooting. Unfortunately my subject is a nasty one, the Linden, TX wildfire. Northeast Texas is currently experiencing one of the worst droughts in years. Combine that with an extremely hot summer and you get the recipe for some aggressive fire activity. Smoke from the many fires raging at any given time can be seen for miles. The fire in this photo is in Linden, TX and has been burning since yesterday. The fire is spreading so quickly, the fire crews actually gave up trying to put it out and decided instead to try and save what houses they could. I believe this fire alone was reported to have burned over 3,200 acres as of late this afternoon and was burning as much as 10 acres in just a few minutes.

Comments are always appreciated but really I just wanted to share this with the community and to start posting again.
