Bunchgrass Skipper, Problema bysus is what it looks like to me but I'm seldom comfortable stating pricise species of butterflies. These and similar small skippers are very active around this flower which I don't know ID. It is a rather common flower sold at nurseries and bet someone knows immediately the ID

E-5, 50mm F2 macro
1/1000 sec @ F5, -0.7 EV
flash off
ISO 200
manual focus
tripod
approx 50% of FF

Large view provided

Always appreciate you comments and suggestions

Nice and sharp. The skipper really pops off the screen and the flower has just the right amount of a sharpness contrast.

Looks good, Charlie. In fact, the exposure looks right on. My only wish (a small one) would be for the stem on the right to be a little more out of the focus zone, but I am well aware of the difficulties of these situations and there may not have been anything you could have done other than risk a wider aperture.

I really like the colors of the skipper with the flower. Skippers are hard to ID because so many look so similar. For that you could try bugguide.net. They are wonderful with all insect id's. Nice IQ on this too.

Thanks all for nice comments. I'm happy with this image but as you mention Lon the stem on the right is a bother and I'm going to work on making it disappear.

LP looks very good Charlie, nice looking flower perch and sharp.
There are so many different species/variations of these skippers ID is tough unless you're an expert...
Or you have at least an hour to search the net. Good luck with that
Well done :toast:
