Black Phoebe

Went to one of our local city parks in search of fall migrants Saturday morning. I stayed around a pond where I had photographed warblers & other migrants. While photographing some female painted buntings feeding on grasses along the pond's edge, this Black Phoebe emerged and perched on a snag about five feet from the banks. My ISO was slightly high as there was cloud cover & trees threw shade on grasses and small bushes.

Canon 7D, 300 mm lens w/1.4 TC, f4,ISO 500, 1/1250, Aperture Priority. Image taken while walking around and using tripod.

Comments welcome and appreciated.

The eye stands out nicely which I find hard to do on these birds. Good details in both the black and white. The water made a really great background.

Nice detail. I love these little ones, even if they are pretty common here.
Good eye, complimentary BG .

Nice image with good detail and I like the palate. Your comp is well chosen. I think in the larger image it is a little soft around the eye. I would go for another round of sharpening.

The lighting appears soft and warm, nice combination. Very good feather detail and the subtle color variations are well defined. The appears to be a dark smudge just in front of the bird, might be the water or on the sensor?

Very well done Carlos. For me it could be just a touch brighter, but very nice as posted.
