Looks Like Retirement &RP

I've just ridden off into the sunset, pardon the trite retirement metaphor. After a 37 year career and 40 years in the desert, looking forward to transitioning to a new life. But I have to admit, there will be moments like this one when I'll miss the Great Basin. Summer thunderstorms can produce some pretty dramatic skies. I understand Colorado has no problem matching this light show.

Okay, first order of business in retirement is to figure our how to get the image I see on my computer onto the site. The colors on the post are all gone! The red sky has turned brown. This was processed in Lightroom 3, exported as a JPEG Pro Photo color space. My thumbnail looks much different. Help!

Very nice sunset! Yes, I see the colors because I'm using a color managed browser (FireFox). But, what you want to do is convert your file to sRGB colorspace before posting on the web because many people do not use color managed browsers (IE, Opera).(Don't convert your master file!!! Only the jpg you created specifically for the web. Keep your master in ProPhoto!) sRGB is kinda the default color space for the web because its the lowest common denominator.

Congrats on retirement! :toast:

Russ, try converting the color space to sRGB, that should help.

Yeah, that repost sings! Beauty of a shot.
Good luck with the retirement, mine may be coming sooner than even I had hoped, and I remember you saying that you would retire in Colorado. Give me a shout when you get settled. We should find something to shoot.

Russell,

Great metaphor for your retirement - and congrats on your life's achievement.

Sounds to me like you've already got some good advice on the color management - and both posts in this thread look great to me.

What a gorgeous sky and I think you've presented the colors and saturation quite naturally. This is one fantastic sky. No nits really, although upon closer look you could perhaps burn down the blown highlights in the sky at left, but that's very minor since we might expect that brightness nearer the sun anyway.

Congrats again and we expect more photography from you from here on out!

Fabulous sky, Russ. Congrats on your retirement. Hopefully there will be plenty more wonderful sunsets for you to ride off into and enjoy. Love the red tones in this one. Cheers.

Congrats on your retirement. Both images look great on Firefox. I always suggest all photographers should use Firefox only.
