Its not what it seems. They arent postering to check us out. It was towards the end of the mating season and they got concerned when a huge male walked towards them. They ran straight for us and used us as a shield. They stood up a couple of times to ascertain his position and slowly retreated into the woods at all times making sure that we were between them and the boar.

Cropped a little from right and top.

Had posted a zoomed in version which was taken a few moments after this.

Wow! That is a really nice image. I love the expression in the cubs face, he's so cute! Great job getting eye contact with both the mom and the cub! Very cool story to go with it, too. Though, I might have been a bit freaked out if the sow ran straight towards me!

Hi Anand,

It's hard to go too wrong with a standing mother brown bear with a cute cub at it's feet! I like the look on mom's face and how she's holding her paws adds to the feeling of "indecision" she's exuding. I think that the brightness of the water and the sky - especially combined with how the cub is so dark/shaded - do hamper this image a little (you handled it well, but tough lighting to work with!).

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Hey Anand,
In an ideal world I wish the far shore wasn't intersecting the sows head. Given the light, you did very well but have to agree with Brad on the water.

Wonderful poses, a tough contrasty exposure as others have noted. :toast:
