Unidentified Blooming Object.
Haven't been happy with any of the Dahlia's I've been shooting the last few days so here's one from last April and as the titled implies I have no idea what it is. ID help would be appreciated. The opened blossom is only about 1/4 inch diameter if that helps.
It was breezy so at f/25 I really had to crank up the ISO....miraculously it's pretty much noise free and that's with the little ol' dinky Nikon D5000. Post Processed in PSE7 and Nik Color Efex Pro 3

Check out the larger version if so inclined.
Thanks for looking.

Sigma 150mm f2.8 Macro
f/25 @ 1/250th sec
ISO 2000

I can't help you with the ID Bruce but I certainly like the image. I like the composition and the color but that red is so exceptional, it's hard for me to see it and not want to see more of it. I guess I'm saying I'd look to see an image where it's more emphasized. Love the darkness and drama in this.

Bruce:
I like the composition and red on black seems to work well most of the time. Having said that, I wish the lower portion blooms is a little brighter and the specular reflection is toned down slightly as it competes with the red.

Intriguing, but I will second both Pat and Gary on their suggestions.

Beautiful red tones, and the stem and leaves look like miniature palm trees. I'd like to see just the right side of the frame, the flowers and one stem so that those whatever they are flowers are featured.

Bruce: For me the lighting is terrific and I like the dark palette and the sense of mystery. Great effort on so small a subject and a fantastic result. >=))>

I like the comp. on this Bruce. If it were my shot I think I would try using a "plamp" on the floral stem to try and move the flowers in a counter clockwise arc a tad closer so as to be more in between the two leaves. My eye finds the lighter leaves at the base distracting and pulling attention away from the blooms. Really nice for such a high ISO.
