BB Whistling Duck

by Ron Bielefeld

From this morning. Had some great light and wind this morning. BB whistling ducks generally do not fly in a very dynamic fashion, but the strong wings made them have to fly a bit more aggressively than normal. This bird banked hard to get into an area where others of its kind were swimming around. Please view the larger version for max detail. Thanks.

Awesome! Wonderful position to show off every feather in both wings. Nice detail and exposure as usual.

Luscious detail. Can't imagine a finer angle of exposure for getting the aerodyamics and feather detail of those wings, than you have here.

Beautiful light with rich deep colors and complimentary background and great definition of the bird. Looks like there will be plenty of BBWD. One couple near my house has 11 chicks.

A great look at the topside, which we rarely get in flight.

Really excellent banking pose Ron. Beautiful colors and textures, perfect exposure, sharpness! Not much room for improvement as far as I can tell. I'm envious at your great flight photos, assume you have a lot of opportunities with ducks at close quarters to get so many killer shots.

One of your very best, Ron! Stunning sharpness. I can really feel dynamics of the dive with the spread out wings and feet. Nice top angle view and comp too. :toast: :toast:

You always seem to get some of the best angles on these Ron, this is no exception.
Technical side looks excellent and I especially like this view of the wings here :toast:

wonderful, Ron--I love the wing position and the downward look. details are excellent. everything is up to your usual standard, which occasionally I start to take for granted--until I am quickly reminded after raising my own lens on a much easier slow-moving BIF and returning home to the underwhelming results.

Oh my Ron. All I can say is that I wish this mine. The light looks exquisite, and I love the top of the wing look and feel to this. Great feather detail and the whites are absolutely perfect. The soft, blurred out background is just icing on the cake. WOW. :jump: :jump:

Incredible shot, Ron. This bird is spread out as much as it can be spread out! It allows us to have a great look at the whole bird. Fine color. Great bg. Outstanding.

Ron, I think this is one of the best flight shots you have posted, and that is saying a lot. Awesome lighting. The colors of the duck just pop. Great background, just an all around awesome image.
