Lush Greens

In June we made a day trip down to Italy. I took my camera with me though I didn’t have any intentions to take some photos on that day. It’s been raining all day long. On our way back home I saw this forest scene near Simplon Pass. We pulled up and I went exploring the area. I thought this lush green would be a nice contrast to this trunks. Since the rain was pouring down I placed an umbrella over my tripod to protect my gear.

Techs: Nikon D700,AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm @17mm, 1/4sec, F18, iso 200

A nice vertical landscape. The green ferns are a great touch. My only nit is the obvious lens distortion of the edge trees, which is easily corrected.

Bill, I love these ferns and the beautiful green. I like the saturation from everything being wet. I agree with Phil about the background trees, but beautiful shot regardless. I love shooting in the rain! The Wisconsin north woods is full of these ferns.

Other than the leaning mentioned, this is a nice shot. Love the saturation and the foreground placement of the fern. A minor deal, but the comp seems a bit heavy on the right due to the rock. That's all I would change if I had to choose something.

Well composed. The vertical browns contrast nicely with the vibrant greens below.

The greens really pop with the saturation increase from the rain. Gorgeous! And excellent comp and processing.

The colors are striking and I'm sure the rain added to that impact. I like the little bit of red and the tree statues in the background. Nicely done Bill. Gorgeous!

Bill, a very nice composition for me combining the farns with the surrounding trees and rocks. The freshness of a rainy day adds a lot to me.
