WB Nuthatch

These guys always seem to be around when I'm trying to shoot something else, and I have plenty of shots of them, so typically have just ignored them. But when the light and everything else is good and one pops into view, of course you can't resist! And this is one of my favorite photos.

Canon 20D, 400 5.6L, 1/160, f7.1, 430EX @ -1 2/3. Not much done to it except slight overall crop, and noise ninja on the background.

I can see why. The texture of the trunk, the wonderful BG that complements the reddish brown feathers and picks up those same tones in the tree. Sweet light and perfect Nuthatch pose. Good stuff!

Please send some over here, then! We apparently have only a few around here and I never seem to have my camera when they come around.
Your usual fine detail, great pose, and nice BG. I like the angled tree..

Oh yes, sweet shot Terry. Love the comp. The BG is awesome and the bird is tack with great DOF. I wish this was mine. Very well done.

Sweet Nuthatch image, Terry. Wish they were common around here. I like the classic pose and the fine feather detail on the breast appeals to me.

fantastic, Terry--everything about this is just right for a WBNU. I have the same tendency to ignore the common species--even when they're birds I really like, I'm always looking for something else... These guys are in my yard every day but I certainly don't have anything this nice, especially with the classic nuthatch pose.
