San Diego, CA

Nothing really original here, but I finally got out and shot. Lately, I've been way too tied up in volleyball coaching to even make a sunset. Hoping to dust off the gear, get the rust off and find my way again in time to catch fall colors.

This kinda seemed a little magenta to me, but my buddy also shot the same sunset and his was the same way. Maybe a little weird for some, but it is what it is.

Canon 5Dm1 and Nikon 14-24. Two image blend for exposure purposes.

Love your composition, with great details in the FG. The tones in the sky are superb too...

Very nice shot Jimmy, evokes a very peaceful mood. And I like the color, not too weird for me.

Nice shot Jimmy. That magenta touch plays well for me. I am not totally sold on composition though as that touch of the rock on the right end of the image is kind of breaking the line for me.

Some evenings are just, well, magenta. A peaceful scene. I like it as is.

Sweet comp and I love the light on the dramatic clouds. Great job on the blend,,,,the color and light look perfectly natural.

Nice foreground rock, great shape and texture. I don't mind the magenta and would probably pump it up even more. I'm glad you're getting out Jimmy and hope to see more.

I like the comp in thirds here--cool subject and mood. I just wish there was a little better light on the fg rock.

I like the scene and agree with Stan that maybe dodging out some of the highlights on the rock might add greater impact to this element.

So, looks like volleyball season is over, eh? Now you can come out and play again

I see a slight magenta, but nothing that looks odd, or not natural. Great foreground here. I like these darker coastal images. Maybe it's cause' that's what I seem to get more times than not.

It's not really that weird at all - sometimes things just really are strangely magenta like this at sunset. This is a really interesting photo. I enjoy the colors and textures in the clouds, and find the foreground to be pretty interesting. You sure find some cool FGs out there. :toast:

Thanks Stan and Tony for the suggestions on the foreground rock. I originally shot it with plenty of exposure, but felt the need to leave it on the dark side. I'll post one in a bit with a bit more dodging.

Here's an edited version with some dodging of the foreground rock formation. Not sure if I went too far on it. I am always one to tread lightly on the saturation and processing, so all this feedback is good for me, especially since I have been out of the game a bit.

Really nice processing and composition is wonderful. I am not exactly enthralled by the colors, but that's not your fault (the magenta looks fine to me). Looks like a spot definitley worth returning too.

I like the magenta toning, The fg rock formation is very nice, and that subtle color combo of orange and red is also very appealing. The repost is great with the dodging of the fg rock.

A purple dream! Very interesting foreground rock. Nice comp and the sublte colors and calm conditions give this a very moody feel. :toast:
