We had several families of marmots right next to our campsite up in the San Juan mountains in Colorado back in July. They were fairly tame and we had a lot of fun shooting them. This is one of the little ones peeking over "his rock".

C&C Welcome.

Canon 5D MKII, 70-200mm + 2x (Shot at 400mm), 1/100 sec @ f/8, ISO 800, polarizer, hand held.

I love the bugs on his nose. Nice details and I like the peeking pose.

Hi Phillip, you have nice detail here on the marmot and a clear eye with catchlight. The flies (or bugs) on the nose are a nice detail. On the one hand I quite like the diagonal juxtaposition of the marmot and the green grasses in the BRC, but at the same time I wonder how this would like cropped a bit tighter, getting rid off that green grass.

I love these guys, and this is a classic image of their curious pose. The marmot looks awesome against that nice background. I'm wondering about a tighter crop too as suggested by Vincent.
