Coplay Lakeshore

A popular lake for car-campers just outside the NW corner of MRNP. Yesterday was my first visit and I think the lake has potential given the right circumstances.

The reeds in the fg of this image were covered with glistening dew drops that showed up as distracting hightlights IMO. To get them under control I used Nik Color Efex Pro 2 and then resharpened using USM in PS. Opinions regarding the process or results? A little soft maybe? All comments appreciated. Thanks for looking.

A beautiful scene. Not too soft for my tastes - I suppose it could be sharper, but I didn't look at it for sharpness until after I read your notes.

It makes me want to see more. I don't know what was outside your frame, but more of the same I would hope. What a great place for photographic exploration.

Very cool place Bruce, I'll have to check it out! How were the bugs?

It's hard to tell about the highlights on those horsetails from this version. I bet this looks better with more detail large.

Also, maybe it's the curvature of the lake, but this looks to be tilted a couple of degrees down on the right hand side.

Looks like a really cool place Bruce. The image does feel a bit soft to me, but I think it works OK for this type of scene. The colors look great.

This looks like a beautiful and tranquil scene. At this size the processing looks good although the details seem to be suffering a little from compression.

Compositionally, I think this would be stronger if you had moved closer to the lake and captured more of the reflection in the foreground rather than the logs / stumps. Overall, still a very nice scene. :wavey:

This is much nicer than the thumbnail lets on! Really nice greens and lush surroundings. The detail looks great too!

A wonderful scene Bruce. I think you captured the beauty here very well. I like the colors in this very much and this has a nice wilderness feel. It really does look like a good place to visit often if you could.

I really like the lushness of this. My eyes are tired and out of focus right now so I can't comment on softness/sharpness issues, but I do like the overall capture.

That's a nice image. Nothing that overwhelms me, but a lot of great elements perfectly presented. Lot of eye-appeal.

I think I'd like to see a horizontal comp of this lake as well. This vertical piece is a teaser, making you want to see what's just beyond the sides. Hope you'll be posting more from here

Hi Bruce, a superb shot! Great composition. I really like the foreground shaggy log. The layers up the hillside add depth behind those shoreline timbers. Well done! Looks hdr ...somewhat painterly on my cheapo screen. But, it is a very nice effect. Congrats! Looks like the Nik is working for you! Ken S

This looks like the right circumstances to me. The sharpness looks good and I love the depth and the variety of greens. The downed tree that the stumps work well at getting my eyes moving into the image.

Nice comp with a lot of interesting elements. It does seem a little soft. Looks like it needs a little CCW tilt also.
