Olympus E5, 150mm, 2xTC, f6.3, 1/800, ISO100 handheld out vehicle window

Another bird from two days ago. Not sure what he was looking at, but hawks were in the area. He was making some noise, and this was the closest I have ever gotten to one of these guys. Got quite a few shots, too.

Very nice image, Dave. I like the cocked head and upward look a lot.

neat look up, Dave, when shorebirds do this it's always worth scanning the sky for raptors although often they're so high only the bird can pick them out. besides the pose, I like your comp and the way the tones of the bird match the setting. nice and sharp too. don't know how wary these are on the breeding grounds, but it might have been worth trying to slip out of the truck for a lower angle.

I've seen shorebirds do this at times and like Brian I check the sky. Found a very high Peregrine once that way when a yellowlegs flattened itself on the mud.

Love it, the neat expression really adds a lot. I also like the even tan color of the surroundings. I'm impressed, 1/800 at 100 iso, it must have been very bright out yet not hots spots.

Nicely done, David! Perhaps you did get out of the truck after a few shots from the window.

Nice image. I have several of these birds where they are looking up and I never quite found anything for them to see. Maybe they were actually looking down with the eye on the backside
