Barn Owls
by Dennis Plank
I noticed a while back that we once again have Barn Owls in a box we put up for them several years ago. They always seem to wait until almost full dark to leave the box and the juveniles are put to bed before dawn. This weekend I noticed them flying in just about 5:30 am. We happened to have a very rare clear morning with no fog Saturday, so I grabbed the gear in hopes of getting some kind of image. I didn't catch any birds outside the box, but a couple of juveniles seemed rather curious about the big eye out there. This one was taken just a couple of minutes after the sun came over the horizon.
