Weed with Sensual Curves

I don't know what this weed is called. It had a miniscule white flower but the plant, in groups, as it grows is very feathery or almost dusty looking. I like it for the curves of these leaves or branches.

Olympus E-5
50mm F2 macro
aperture priority
1/4 sec @ F22 -4.0 EV
high key gradation
boost of saturation, contrast and sharpness.
No flash but one 5500k umbrella reflected lamp
on the left
spot metering
ISO 400
manual focus

Large viwe provided

As always I get so much out of your comments and critiques.

I like the curves as well Charlie. Maybe We should call "cat of eleven tails" Well seen and composed.

Charlie - this is gorgeous, and something most of us would never have seen.
The light, BG, colours, and lines are all perfect.
Just an exceptional image!

Artistic presentation of a very unusual and interesting flora. I don't recall ever seeing anything like it.

What Gary said, Charlie. I'd walk right past this. Love what you have done with this. Repeating circles organized in some order needs good thinking and I like that here. Someone might find their signature also in this photo.

Wow, this is an amazing accomplishment. I don't recognize the plant either, but it reminds me of somewhat similar scenes I have admired, but was never able to isolate. Even though I am not generally a fan of plain black backgrounds (because of the artificial studio look), that is exactly what was needed to show of the beauty here. You also did a great job of containing it in the frame. Simply beautiful.

Thanks all for really nice comments. Tomorrow I'll make an attempt to photograph a group of these weeds as I don't believe they are anything even remotely rare. I should have said that this is somewhat of an abstract as I cut out some, not complimentary, parts of this weed to make this more artistic.

And Wayne I know what you mean about a black background. In this case it was, I felt, necessary to isolate the curved elements. As you may have noticed, I finally got what I wanted after taking numerous shots at varying EV values at -4.0 EV, more extreme than I have ever used before.

The curves are indeed cool, but there are too many of them here for me. I wonder about focusing on the top half or 2/3s.

The leaf curves make a very pleasing composition, really easy on the eyes. Love the dark BG Charlie.... Great job!

Mark, I think this plant opens up so many ways of photographing it, that I may get very boring posting variations. I have already done some, as you suggest, with only a few of the curves. As Ram suggested this often comes out looking like fancy handwritting, and i would not be surprised to find someones initials in an image.

Thanks again everyone for making me feel that I was right to like this weed. Here is a photo (not high quality art) to show more of the plant on the chance that someone might know the name.

As fine a comp in a flora image as I recall seeing Charlie. I could follow those arcs for days. Superb image.

Filigree on black. Those curves evoke all kinds of thoughts. This is extra special, Charlie.
