Ashley,

It is a beautiful bird and the flower is equally as beautiful. Nice & interesting background. Both files though have been overcompressed, the small one is only 52.7 kb and the larger version 148 kb on the server. I can see some loss of detail caused by the over compression. It also looks like there is noise in the darker areas of the plumage, perhaps that was from exposing a touch dark (at -1.0 EV) and bringing up the exposure in post. I'm not sure.

Great species well captured here, did he pop out from behind the leaf at all?

Nice shot. Cool bird and I really like the flower it's perched on. If it was mine I would crop a little off of the top and right side

It's a real shame the bird is behind the leaf. I should go back there again!

Ashley. Very interesting bird and perch. There seems to be a slight loss in detail in the darks.. Maybe due to the reduction in file size. Still a very mice image. Well done.

Beautiful! I love the detail in the perch. I too might crop a tad more off the right, but I really like the photo.

Hi Ashley.
The bird and the flower are very nice but i do think there is a little problem with the processing but still a super image,

Keith.

Ashley, I like the image of the sunbird and the plant it is perched on. I do find the BG to be a little busy, I would consider cropping it tighter to eliminate some of the BG. I do enjoy seeing these birds from SE Asia that you have been posting. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful detail and color and I really like the setting, Ashley. The eye looks really strange. Is that some kind of artifact of the lighting or is that just the way it is?

Many thanks for taking the time and for leaving thoughtful comments and suggestions John, Rob, Mia, David, Robert, KC, Neal, Terry, Keith, John, Ray, and Dennis :^)

Mia: I actually asked for more help and advice on the subject of resizing yesterday on a post I made over in the Wildlife forum, to which several kindly responded, so I'm in the precess of figuring this out. Hopefully future posts won't be losing out to over-compression. I'd been shooting at -1 EV at the time to lessen the chances of blowing highlights of leave while shooting another subject when this one suddenly flew in to make an appearance!

David: I only had a few brief moments with this subject and fired off as many shots as I could. Even though I do have another of it on a different perch, showing it's entire body, this picture is far more pleasing. All being well, I'll have better opportunities with this handsome bird in months ahead :^)

Robert, Terry, John: I agree, cropping a little more from the top and RH side would have been a better choice, thanks for the suggestion :^)

Dennis: May indeed have been a tad overzealous when it came to working that eye, well spotted ;^)
