101 Eyes

Besides the grand seascapes here on the east coast (at least in my mind) especially those of Maine and Cape Breton, NS, I often like to spend time looking at things from a more close up perspective. Maybe because I am a scientist in real life (PhD Chemistry) and spend a lot of time looking through microscopes of all kinds though albeit at things electronic in nature. I don't think I have posted an abstract in a while....... so here is something completely different. Please view large for the full "stare" quality of the "eyes". Don't ya just feel like you are being watched?

Canon 5D Mark II
Canon EF-100mm Macro f/2.5L
ISO100 1/8sec f/19
Hoya Polarizer

Thanks for having a look. Always appreciate your comments and critiques.

BTW - This is seaweed, bubbles, and hairy yellow-orange slime below in a tidal pool at Ocean Point, Boothbay, Maine..... yes.... it obviously caught me eye but not an unusual sight at low tide. So much to take in at this place.

Totally  Eva. I really think you should remove the reference to what it is and let people just guess and enjoy.

You know, honestly, I think that's one of the most fascinating abstracts of nature I have ever seen. Absolutely outstanding in all regards! :toast:

Can't add much to Marc's comments, except to say that my favorite images are those which make me think and engage my senses. This is one of them. Love the little light 'stars' that I see in the larger version, and the 'development' is pitch perfect.
Excellent work, Eva!

Very neat Eva. The way each little strand has an eye is fascinating. Love the small star bursts from the small aperture.
Great eye

Wow, I'm sure happy I clicked on the thumbnail. What a treat to behold! Reminds of some weird swamp thing from scooby doo. Love the color and the organic textures. Very cool.

Fascinating, interesting abstract. Well developed and well noticed. Enjoyed studying the image (larger size is important).

superb eva - thoroughly enjoying this! if i were to dabble with this at all, it would be to reduce the amount of what appears, to my eye, to be a rather yukky yellow!! I am, of course, intrigued to note that none of our esteemed friends and colleagues have even attempted to guess what the heck it is. it appears to be an aquatic algae to me but i couldn't pin it down any more than that!

Way cool abstract, Eva. The thumbnail does not do this justice. I particularly like the star bursts at the bottom. :toast:

Really cool shot! Talk about making "art" out of something most people would pass by without ever taking a second look.

Very intriguing and effective shot. Everything works for me with the very slight exception of the yellows and greens, which for me are a bit unappealing. Doesn't seem to bother most of the others thought, so I won't suggest trying this in B&W. Though I wouldn't mind if you did . . .

I'm slightly unnerved by this photograph...like there is something spooky under the main layer looking up at me.

Cool sparkly thingies everywhere..and definitely different than your usual shots.

This is seaweed, bubbles, and hairy, yellow-orange slime below in a tidal pool at Ocean Point, Boothbay, Maine..... yes.... it obviously caught me eye but not an unusual sight at low tide at least for me. Harsh light above but it really made these seaweed structures and color stand out. So much to take in at this place besides the larger seascapes. Appreciate that you guys like it. Many thanks again!.
